Joanna Newton

Joanna has a wide experience of the private, public and voluntary sector and has built up her knowledge of West Mercia through other chair roles in the region. Joanna became a non-executive director for Herefordshire PCT in 2000, and in 2003 she was appointed as Chair to Herefordshire & Worcestershire Ambulance NHS Trust, succeeded by her appointment to Chair of NHS Herefordshire in 2006. In addition, Joanna was part of the West Midlands/ Central Wales Cross Border Core Officers Group in her capacity as Chair of the Cross Border Health and Social Care group. Since 2008 she has chaired the West Midlands Specialist Commissioning Board which contracts for specialist and high end services on behalf of the 17 West Midlands PCTs. Prior to returning to Herefordshire, Joanna worked in senior roles for blue chip health related companies in marketing and customer strategy. An active member of the community, Joanna led the development of the Weobley Parish Plan in 2003. She currently Chairs the Governing body of Weobley Primary School, and is a member of the local Church youth project. Joanna is married with 4 children. |

Andrew Mason

Andrew started work in the motor industry, Ford and British Leyland, before becoming a management consultant, setting up his own consultancy business in 1982 which has continued to the present day. He has undertaken consultancy work for the Audit Commission, Advantage West Midlands, HMSO, the London Development Agency, the Department of Trade and Industry, the MOD, a number of Business Links, Shropshire County Council, Telford & Wrekin Council, Birmingham City Council, Liverpool City Council, two NHS Trust Hospitals and three multi-partner GP practices. Andrew has particular expertise in change management, business strategy and planning, marketing, organisation and systems development, management development and training. Andrew became Chair of NHS Telford & Wrekin in 2010 and is a Trustee of Wyldwoods, a charity providing experiences in rural arts and crafts activities for people with mental health issues and learning difficulties and is Treasurer of Telford Amnesty International. He is a past Chairman of the Telford Business Partnership (2006-2009), a network of business and professional service companies established by Advantage West Midlands to support regional economic development, and was a past Vice Chairman of Governors of Madeley Court School. |

Dr. Helen Herritty

Helen has been involved in the NHS in Shropshire for over 8 years, initially as a lay member of Shropshire Primary Care Group, then as a non-executive director on the board of the Primary Care Trust (PCT) and latterly as the interim Chairman of Shropshire County PCT. She has served on a wide range of committees, including chairing the PCT audit committee for over six years. Helen has had a varied career having worked in industry, education and local government. Her background is as a biomedical research scientist and although much of her career has been based around this scientific training, more recently, she has been actively involved in the local voluntary sector and local strategic partnership. |

Susan Mead

Prior to her retirement from full-time work in 2004, Susan worked as National Director in the Audit Commission, holding lead responsibility for the performance review of councils across England and Wales. She has held senior positions in both local government and care inspectorates, and has considerable operational experience of delivering personal care services. Safeguarding has been an area of particular interest; Susan has chaired and sat on a number of panels of inquiry and tribunals into issues of safeguarding concerns. Since retirement she has undertaken various assignments as an independent consultant to both local and national government. Susan was appointed a Non-Executive Director of NHSH in 2006 and has chaired the performance and quality committee on behalf of the Board. She has also been deputy chair of the Children's Trust, and a member of both the Partnership Board with the local authority and the Clinical Commissioning Group Board. |

Dr. Bryan Smith

Dr Bryan Smith OBE is a Yorkshireman who married a Worcestershire girl, brought up two children and eventually settled in the county 24 years ago. He was trained as a mechanical engineer at Bristol University and worked in industry for 35 years. Most of this time was spent with ICI plc working in engineering and manufacturing and ending as the company's Director of Engineering. Since retiring from manufacturing industry he has worked for over ten years in the quality assurance industry first as founder and chairman of the United Kingdom Accreditation Service and then as Chairman of certification bodies including that of the Soil Association. He has also been involved in both urban regeneration and conservation, worked for the European Union on a project to develop global collaboration on research, and lead the CBI's technology and innovation committee. He no longer plays any sport but is still a keen gardener, walker and church-bell ringer. He was Chairman of NHS Worcestershire from its formation in 2006 until the formation of the West Mercia Cluster of PCTs in January 2012. |

William Hutton

William has extensive experience of working at senior levels in business management and consultancy roles within multi-national commercial organisations. He has been a Non-Executive Director in the NHS since 1 January 2007 with Shropshire County Primary Care Trust. William lives near Ludlow and outside the NHS is employed by a leading global IT organisation where he is also Chairman of their Pension Plan in the UK. |

Louise Lomax

Louise has been a training consultant with the Voluntary Sector from 1986, working mainly with Citizens Advice. From 1995-2011 Louise was a Councillor at Telford & Wrekin Council, where she chaired the Appeals Committee and Jobs & Prosperity portfolio. She was also a member of the Audit Committee. Louise became a Non Executive Director at Telford & Wrekin PCT from 2002. As a Non Executive Director Louise was chair of the Quality Performance and Resources Committee, the GP Performance Review Committee and the Finance Sub Committee. She was also joint chair of the Mental Health Sub Committee. Other past appointments have included Board membership of Telford College of Arts & Technology and the Ironbridge Gorge Museum Trust. Louise is currently chair of the Severn Gorge Countryside Trust. |

Rob Parker

Rob is a qualified accountant with over 30 years' experience. The majority of his corporate career has been with Whitbread PLC. During this time he held a number of Board level roles in both financial and general management positions. Rob has held a number of non-executive director roles since 2002, including the West Midlands South Strategic Health Authority and NHS Worcestershire, where he chaired the Audit Committee. In addition he was Chairman of Bristol Infracare LIFT until the end of April 2011. |

Sue Doheny

Sue has worked across many sectors in a variety of roles that have enabled her to develop an understanding of public and private sector organisations. Following a successful career in sales and marketing with NCR she undertook a number of key management and computer consultancy contracts across North and South America. On returning to the UK Sue worked for Social Services as a contract manager for adult social care, and then undertook nurse training, working in South West London in Primary Care Teams. On moving to Herefordshire in 2001 to form a new rapid response team Sue took on the wider remit of Intermediate Care Co-ordinator, a joint post between the PCT and LA. In 2004 Sue was appointed City Locality and Children Services Manager. In January 2007 Sue 'acted up' as the Director of Operations which she did until end of August 2007 when she was appointed as the substantial Director. In October 2008 Sue was appointed as the Director of Quality and Clinical Leadership in Herefordshire. This was a new role developed to ensure executive lead on the quality assurance framework across health and social care and the meaningful engagement of clinical staff in the commissioning process. |
